By August the coast road is a slow river of cars. In May it belongs to the people who live there, and to you.

The lemon groves are in blossom, the sea is warm enough for a brave swim, and the light is the soft gold that photographers chase.

Go before the season turns. A wooden boat, a terrace lunch, and coves you will have almost to yourself.
